In my opinion, this has got to be one of the most influential albums in Hip Hop. Public Enemy changed the genre.

Agreed. I love the more deliberate mid-tempo sound of the mid '90s, but the uptempo production from the late 80s/early 90s that was a pure adrenaline rush. The Bomb Squad was the absolute best at that.

There weren’t that many (NYC) MC’s that had the confidence to do much past 105 BPM. Cool J, Chuck, and Rakim were the only lyricists I can think of that would do an uptempo joint that wasn’t expressly a party joint.
