There weren’t that many (NYC) MC’s that had the confidence to do much past 105 BPM. Cool J, Chuck, and Rakim were the only lyricists I can think of that would do an uptempo joint that wasn’t expressly a party joint.
In my opinion, this has got to be one of the most influential albums in Hip Hop. Public Enemy changed the genre.
